The Magician Traits
There are 22 cards in Major Arcana. The card that is not numbered is called The Fool, and the rest of the Major Arcana cards are all about the journey of the Fool from beginning to enlightenment. Therefore we have 21 cards that explain the path of the Fool. The first card is the Magician, which is recognised as a favourite card.
The Magician represents masculine power. He is the Force that allows us to influence our world and way of life through the concentration of our power. He is always associated with new beginnings and great expectations. He is very deferential so he will not abuse his power. The Magician stands strong with his wisdom: whatever he wants and needs in life he can make it become a reality. He is associated with our conscious awareness. The Magician is one who can make changes in reality by concentrating his will and power, so he teaches us that we also can manifest our dreams by the power we have within. The Magician simply is a connection between the world of humanity and the world of spirit.
As you see on the card, he is using talents and skills that are represented by the four tools of cups, swords, wands, and coins to achieve his goals. The Magician focuses all his energy toward achieving his goals. For The Magician, each day is unique and means the beginning of new challenges. All of his accomplishments seem ordinary to him but for those in his surroundings, they see that these accomplishments may be fulfilled only by some kind of magical power. The Magician is full of wisdom, is very patient, skillful, self-confident, and a very powerful magus. He represents all of the energies of the universe.
As mentioned above, The Magician is linked with the beginning of something new, and now everything is possible. It can be the start of a new relationship, the start of a new financial strategy, or the birth of creative ideas or creative projects. So this means that everyone can achieve his or her goal or dream by concentrating their energy toward their dream. Focused will, wisdom, self-confidence, skills of communication, hard work, manifestation, willpower, patience, connection, activity, new beginnings, and creativity are all typical traits of The Magician.
There is a deep connection between astrology and the tarot cards, and here is an example of it. Mercury is a very important planet of the natal chart, so typically this planet explains how the querent expresses and thinks intellectually. Mercury rules The Magician’s mind and hands and says that “what you think, you can do,” thus the Magician is a very mercurial card in its meaning and expression. Just like the planet Mercury, The Magician is thinking and using his hands for manifesting his dreams, and is demonstrating real power to us. The planet Mercury and the card of The Magician are tightly associated with each other.
Now let’s explain the card in detail. Here we see that The Magician stands tall, and he holds a staff in his right hand which is raised toward the sky. The Magician’s left hand is pointing to the earth. His right hand, which is raised, means that he takes all the energy and the power from the universe, and through his body, he transmits them to a physical world. As we see there is a magical table so it holds all four suits of tarot, so each of them represents all four primordial elements of the alchemist – Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. So this simply means using heart, body, soul, and mind during the process of manifestation.
The Magician is in a white robe which symbolises that he is innocent and will not abuse his knowledge. Put simply, the white robe means purity. The Magician has the symbol of eternity above his head, and around his waist is the snake which is biting its tail which is another association with eternity. The Magician has a red cloak over a white robe which simply means that he has the passion to use his vast experience and knowledge and that he is full of wisdom and power.
When you pull this card it means that now is the right time for you – you have the opportunity to use your abilities and talents without any problem, and your performance and your accomplishment will seem like magic to those who are around you. You can achieve any goal. When you set yourself a goal that you can easily achieve, totally focus your energy and abilities toward it. When you pull this card, you must be ready for something bigger, something brand new, and something that exceeds your greatest expectation because your abilities and talent will seem like magic to others, yet it will be a very easy task for you. You will find inner power, wisdom, and additional abilities, this probably makes every task easily achievable. If you work in a creative field, you should be ready for the bigger and better thing to happen in your life, because your creativity will be at its best.
It is also a good time for meeting someone who will change your life entirely, and this meeting will fill your life with joy and love. A new relationship will arise and go to very deep levels.
As mentioned above, this card is associated with strength and power, so if you are ill you will be in better health soon. If your finances are thin, at this time you will have additional motivation and strength to improve your financial position. This card is also associated with the beginning of something new, for example, it is associated with creative ideas, new creative projects, new business ventures, and new relationships.
Lastly, with regards to your spiritual condition during this time, it is the perfect time for you to start your spiritual study if you have not yet begun. A Spiritual teacher may appear in your life. He will be a very good teacher, mentor, tutor, and friend, and will teach you everything you need to know about spiritual conditions.
Let’s sum up and briefly take a glance at the card of The Magician. With The Magician tarot card, you are inspired to apply your skill and initiatives to accomplish all of your goals. During this time you have the perfect timing for financial opportunities, for creative projects, for bettering your health, for beginning or healing a relationship, and for commencing or deepening your spiritual understanding and studies.

Here’s a site where you’ll find my writings.
The Bravehearts of Belgrave High is now published. I have completed the first in a series of novels that I wrote for teens. It is the courageous story of a young girl growing up in a home filled with domestic violence. She also has to endure a school and neighbourhood full of bullies. We read how she maneuvres her way through such a difficult situation. Plus, how she grows because of it, among other themes in the novel.
The desired outcome for young readers is that they will be inspired to treasure their unique differences. If they don’t fit in with the system or with those around them, then they should realise that it’s quite okay not to fit in.
My first novel was written to help raise funds for the private foundation that I established, which might later become a charity. Click here if you’d like to be taken to the site where you can purchase this novel. If you cannot see the site, use a browser other than Chrome.
