Different Psychic Reading Skills
What’s the difference between a Tarot Reader, a psychic, a clairvoyant, and a medium? Many people have no idea. It’s important that you know the difference between these four skills so that you can search for the kind of reader that you need. So what are the different psychic reading skills?
Not all people who are Psychic can also do Mediumship. On a similar note, not all Mediums are Psychic. Therefore you must learn to tell when your potential reader knows how to do what you’re seeking and when they don’t. Mediums can connect with the souls of those who have departed, and not every Psychic can do that.
Psychics read your soul and can tell you about yourself. They can sometimes see into the future also. Mediums often can’t do that.
Clairvoyants can often see things that those who are Psychic can’t. Then again, those who read the Tarot Cards are rarely able to connect with the souls of those who have passed. So if that’s what you’re seeking from having a reading, then you need to find someone who is a Medium, not someone who is a Psychic, Clairvoyant, or Tarot Reader.
So what then is the difference? Let’s compare:
Tarot Readers
Tarot was originally a tool to connect the individual who was seeking a reading to their higher self, so that their own wisdom could guide them. The reader will interpret the symbols on the cards for the client, helping them to understand what their own Higher Self wants them to know. A Straight Tarot Card Reader can give you the information that you need, along with some solutions to your situation. This is done through their profound understanding of the varied meanings of the cards and the combination of those cards.
Psychic Tarot Readers
Those who call themselves Psychic Tarot Readers are people who use a combination of their knowledge of the cards with their intuitive or psychic abilities. They then tap into the various levels of past, present and future information that becomes available to them during the reading.
There is a difference between intuition and psychic ability, which is a measure of degrees. Intuition is usually a strong gut instinct, or a reaction. Intuition that isn’t acted upon remains fairly weak. Yet were the individual to act on their intuition more often, iT would become honed and develop into Psychic ability.
Initially, intuition sounds like a radio station that isn’t quite tuned in. As one begins to act on their intuition, the dial turns so that the sound becomes very clear. In the early stages, it’s more of an impression than a precise insight. As one becomes better at acting upon their intuitive hunches, they turn into Psychic ability.
In order to develop accurate psychic ability, one has to be trained in the art of quieting the mind. This often comes from learning how to meditate, but also can simply come from a strong level of discipline that cuts out all noise and distraction from the mind’s eye. It requires patience, trust, and belief in your ability to hone your Psychic senses.
Mediums
So what’s the difference between a Medium and a Psychic? Please note that not all Psychics are Mediums, so if you arrive at your booking expecting your psychic reader to be able to tune into your long-dead grandmother, you might be in for a disappointment.
A Medium is used in the same way that a radio receiver is used to receive and play sound. The Medium is simply the conduit for the departed spirit to speak through. Some Mediums have Clairsentience ie, they can feel what is going on in a situation. Other Mediums sense the arrival of a particular spirit due to a smell that is associated with that individual. ie. the scent might be a favourite perfume or aftershave that the man or woman loved to wear while they were still living.
However, most psychics can only predict the future and gain insight into hidden information in the present or the past. They can use Remote Viewing to do predictive work or to reveal what is going on that you weren’t aware of in the past. They usually can’t get messages from departed loved ones.
The Five Clairs
There are five basic categories that define specific Mediumship and Psychic talents. These are known as the five “clairs” – These are mental impressions received without the use of the physical organs.
Clairaudience – extrasensory data perceived as sound
Clairscent – extrasensory data perceived as taste
Clairsentience – extrasensory data perceived as feeling or awareness
Clairvoyance – extrasensory data perceived as heightened sight.
Clairsavorance – extrasensory data perceived as taste
Many con-artists have caused the word Medium to become tainted with a bad reputation. So too the word Psychic. It’s important that you use the services of someone who has a long list of positive client testimonials from far and wide.
Psychics
Psychics can ready your soul. The word Psychic comes from the Greek word Psyche, meaning “breath of life”, i.e. “soul or spirit”. They connect with your soul through their auric energy field (which is an extension of their body), and read information about their client’s past, present, and possible futures. They make the connection with their mind.
Clairvoyants
A Clairvoyant sees things that are beyond the five senses, using one or more of the five ‘clairs’ listed above. However, a good Clairvoyant reader will limit the amount of information that they give to a client in case the client forces the outcome to happen unnaturally.
For example, the reader might see the client meeting a new love when they are overseas. Next thing the client rushes out and books a holiday just so that they will be overseas. Yet their destiny was to meet someone while they were away on a business trip, not a holiday. Plus, the trip was on the other side of the river that opens into the sea, not overseas!! See how things can become complicated?! Also, the future isn’t fixed. It is subject to a million choices made by all of those involved in the present, so it can change, depending on what happens.
A good Clairvoyant reader would be reluctant to give out physical details. This in case in the time between when the reading occurs and when the meeting happens, the future suitor has changed their appearance. He or she may have cut or dyed their hair, or changed careers address. If a reader gives out this kind of information, it can actually limit the chances of the client meeting the potential suitor.
Clients – it is best not to ask for very specific details about your desired outcome, so that you won’t be limited in your choices of what is meant to happen. Instead, just take things one day at a time and see what happens.
Do your Due Diligence
Now, the point of this post is to advise you that you need to do your due diligence and find out what skills your potential reader actually has. If they can’t channel a dead spirit, and you really want to talk to your Mum who passed over, then don’t get angry. You can’t get angry with the reader because you expected them to be able to do it and they can’t. Ask questions on the phone and find out what skills your reader has. Then make your booking based on what he or she is able to do, not what you want from the reading.
Thanks for reading,

Here’s a site where you’ll find my writings.
The Bravehearts of Belgrave High is now published. I have completed the first in a series of novels that I wrote for teens. It is the courageous story of a young girl growing up in a home filled with domestic violence. She also has to endure a school and neighbourhood full of bullies. We read how she maneuvres her way through such a difficult situation. Plus, how she grows because of it, among other themes in the novel.
The desired outcome for young readers is that they will be inspired to treasure their unique differences. If they don’t fit in with the system or with those around them, then they should realise that it’s quite okay not to fit in.
My first novel was written to help raise funds for the private foundation that I established, which might later become a charity. Click here if you’d like to be taken to the site where you can purchase this novel. If you cannot see the site, use a browser other than Chrome.
