Easy Way to Read the Tarot Cards
Reading the tarot isn’t difficult. It’s really quite easy. There is no need to study all the meanings of the cards over and over, book after book, teacher after teacher. You’ll be relieved to know that there is an Easy Way to Read the Tarot Cards. I’ll talk about the first ten cards of the minor arcana in this article, so read on to find out how.
Card Meanings
Sure, it’s important to know the overall meaning of the cards, so there is a little bit of study to do. However, as you probably have already experienced, one card can mean something for one person, and something completely different when reading for another. Sometimes too it can mean something totally different from what you’ve been told by all the books and websites that you’ve studied.
Intuitive Readings
A reading that is accurate is an intuitive reading. Accurate readings require you to engage your intuition, which is a precursor to developing true psychic abilities. It is not a stiff, memorised regurgitation of what your intellect know the cards to mean. Tarot professionals don’t worry about memorising the meaning of the cards… they just say what they see.
Say What You See
What did I just say? I said, tarot professionals say what they see. How simple is that? It’s totally simple. So if your eye is drawn to the sword on the World tarot card and you’re doing a reading for a lady who is pregnant, and your intuition tells you that the image of the sword has something to do with vaccinations, then that’s what it means in the reading that you are doing for your client.
Different Meanings
Another exmple might be that perhaps you are doing a reading for a guy and the seven of cups comes up, and he’s going through the middle of a divorce, it could mean that he’s going to live the life of a single man for the next few months. As a single man he’s likely to have multiple encounters with different people, and the seven of cups (which doesn’t normally mean what I’m suggesting), might be telling you that he’s going to be a bit of a Casanova for a while. This is what I mean by say what you see.
Let Go of the Official Meanings
Now THAT is the secret of doing a truly amazing and accurate tarot reading. Let go of the official meanings of the cards and trust your own intuition to tell the story of the spread to your client. Learn the essentials to the tarot deck. In the minor arcana all you need to learn are the basics of numerology and you’ll more or less have mastered the first ten cards in all four suits.
Basics of Numerology
The number one means new beginnings and new opportunities; two means partnership and duality, working together and coupling; three means creation. Four means stability and foundations; five means conflict and change along with a bit of tension (it’s not the beginning, it’s not the end, it’s somewhere in the middle); six means harmony and growth and more co-operation. Seven is a very spiritual number and it’s about attainment, understanding and knowledge; eight means action, mastery, and power; nine is about fruition and fulfilment. Finally, ten means completion, endings, and renewal. It is also about things being whole and altogether.
The Suits and Elements
Next, the meanings of the four suits and elements are also important. Cups or Goblets (water) are about relationships, feelings, emotions and creativity. Pentacles or Coins (earth) are about finance, work and material possessions. Swords (air) are about intellect, mindset, thoughts and communication. Finally, Wands or Rods (fire) are about passion, energy and motivation.
1 – 10 of the Minor Arcana
Once you have a grasp of the basic meanings of the numbers from one to ten and the meanings of the suits and four elements, you will more or less have mastered the numbered minor arcana cards. That’s 40 out of 78 of the tarot deck. You will now be well on your way to understanding the minor arcana cards.
Trust Yourself
You’ve got to put down the book and trust yourself. You don’t have to have special psychic abilities that you’ve inherited from your family. You only have to trust yourself. Listen to the guidance within yourself.
Practice
For now, just practice pulling cards from the minor arcana and think quickly of the meaning using the information above. Pull one card a day and ask, “What does this card have to say to me today?” Write down what you hear, and then check back on it at the end of the day to see how it applied to the events of your day. Later, I will write an article on how to easily understand the meaning of the Court Cards.

Here’s a site where you’ll find my writings.
The Bravehearts of Belgrave High is now published. I have completed the first in a series of novels that I wrote for teens. It is the courageous story of a young girl growing up in a home filled with domestic violence. She also has to endure a school and neighbourhood full of bullies. We read how she maneuvres her way through such a difficult situation. Plus, how she grows because of it, among other themes in the novel.
The desired outcome for young readers is that they will be inspired to treasure their unique differences. If they don’t fit in with the system or with those around them, then they should realise that it’s quite okay not to fit in.
My first novel was written to help raise funds for the private foundation that I established, which might later become a charity. Click here if you’d like to be taken to the site where you can purchase this novel. If you cannot see the site, use a browser other than Chrome.
