Wheel of Fortune Traits
The Major arcana illustrates the whole path of The Fool to enlightenment. The tenth card of Major arcane is called the Wheel of Fortune. Here we will look at the Wheel of Fortune Traits. After meeting with the Hermit and understanding the whole secret of life, The Fool then encounters the Wheel of Fortune.
He’s been through some low times, but The Fool comes out of hiding into the sunlight once again. His life begins to change. He’s lost everything, so he heads out into the world once again, not expecting very much at all. Yet as time goes by, good things begin to happen to him. As he passes by a farmer selling oranges on the side of the road, the farmer’s wife offers him a drink of juice – she can see how thirsty he is. He takes it and thanks her and her husband, and moves on his way. Next, he passes by a young man practicing archery in a field, and when he expresses admiration for the bow, the young man hands him his spare one with some arrows to use if he needs them. The Fool doesn’t want to take them, but the young man insists.
Finally, when he stumbles upon a rich merchant sitting in a wagon, right over one of the wheels, the man hands him a bag of money. “I decided to give this to the tenth person who walked past me today,” explains the Merchant, “You’re the tenth.” The Fool hardly thought he could still be surprised, but he is. It is as if everything good that he ever did in his life is being paid back to him, three-fold. All luck this day is his.
The Wheel of Fortune is the first symbol of karma. Karma means that what goes around comes around and if it’s your turn to collect, then life is going to be very good to you for the next period of time.
Have Patience
When the Fool met with The Hermit, he learned that he is required to be very patient and to go inward for answers. After learning these things it is now the right time for the Wheel of Fortune. The Fool has the chance to observe how his past actions are bringing results in his life right now. He’s discovering that what you sow, you reap.
When the Wheel of Fortune appears in your spread, it’s asking you to watch your situation. Keep an eye on your motivations and monitor your decisions and you will move forward to success. But only if you also have patience. The Wheel of Fortune asks that you make the wisest decision that will get the best result. If you are impatient you will get bad results. Life is a boomerang, so sometimes doing nothing until the timing is right is what is required in order to get the best results.
The Cycles of Life
This card also illustrates the cycles of the Fool’s life. It tells us that there will be ups and downs, good times and bad, but that you should not give up. Some call it Karma, some call it Divine Intervention. No matter what your belief system, there will always be that sense of blessings verses hard times and obstacles. Karma is very powerful – what you do today you will reap the results of tomorrow. Always remember to construct your life so that you get good results from your thoughts and actions. If you don’t control your thoughts and emotions, you can create heaven in one minute, and hell in the next.
If you don’t like the cycle that you’re going through, you can always change it, but you’ll have to work to do so. Just remember that within you is all the power you need to change your circumstances. Just go within, search for the answers and then draw upon your inner strength to empower you to change. Remain on the upside of the wheel.
Let Go of the Outcome
The Wheel of Fortune teaches us that we have control over ourselves and we can channel our vision for what we want, BUT that we need to let go of the control of the outcome. Every effect is the consequence of the past. To create our future we must understand how we are a product of the past. Knowing how this came about can help us better control our future.
The Wheel of Fortune suggests that there may be external factors that can and are influencing your life. Because of that, you have to confront life head-on – you are being asked to do your best to achieve a higher level of success. No matter what your circumstances, you have to keep the faith because life is preparing something beautiful for you. This card can sometimes indicate the rise and fall of fortunes.
The Four Corner Symbols
Let’s look at some of the symbols. As you can see there is an angel that is associated with Aquarius illustrated in the top left corner. The eagle to the right is associated with Scorpio, the lion below the eagle is associated with Leo and the bull in the bottom left-hand corner is linked with Taurus. So the card is full of zodiac signs. They are all linked to the book of Torah, which is associated with wisdom – a strong theme in this card.
Other Symbols
Now let’s take a glance at some of the other symbols of this card. First of all we’ll review the clouds. The clouds simply mean something higher, for example, higher energy, higher thoughts etc. These clouds mean that the things that are happening to us are definitely coming from beings of a higher energy – from the energy that rules our world. You must remember to be very grateful to those higher powers because they are helping you learn and gain knowledge that leads to success.
Another symbol is that there are two people – one is sitting on the top of the wheel and the second one is falling off it. This simply means that life is very fair: sometimes you are on top of the world and sometimes you aren’t because you don’t deserve to be. But don’t let that bother you – there is no need to view falling as a bad thing. Falling from your position gives you a chance to get up and achieve higher levels ever. It gives you the chance to make a positive change in your life. You are falling because something is definitely wrong with your approach or with the path you’re on, so you have to make a change. As you change whatever it is that needs changing, you can achieve a much higher level than you would have done before.
The last symbol is the wheel. The wheel represents the natural cycle of our life. It is also associated with the natural flow of energy. So our life is just like this wheel, it is always moving up and down, therefore you should not give up. This wheel is also associated with revolution and making something new or achieving something modern. This symbol is key to the Journey of the Fool.
Ruling Astrological Sign
As you know astrology and the tarot are linked with each other. The astrological sign ruling the Wheel of Fortune is Jupiter. Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces. Jupiter (just like this card) is very positive planet. This planet illustrates over-confidence, power, wisdom, karma, elevation, optimism, happiness, abundance, and luck. The Wheel of Fortune card and planet Jupiter have almost the same meanings. The card indicates a change that just happens, and brings with it great joy. Jupiter governs circulation of blood and circular motions. Jupiter also governs the solar plexus area.
Life’s Ferris Wheel
If the Wheel of Fortune appears during your tarot reading this means that you don’t have to give up and ruin your life. Just know that if today you are not in luck, tomorrow will be your day. All truth and solutions are within, we just have go inside to find it.
This card tells you that you should focus only on good and positive things because what you sow today you will reap tomorrow. This is the main law of nature and the main law of attraction.
As much as this card is about what you or the querent can do to change your own or their life or self, there are certain cards that indicate that sometimes you just get lucky. Sometimes things happen to you over which you have no control, and you rise or fall on that turn of the wheel. Yourself or the querent might very well be about to get lucky.
This is the card about how we sometimes find ourselves soaring up or down on life’s Ferris wheel. The Wheel can mean movement, change, or evolution, and in that respect, it can be about how we all change positions, some of us rising some of us falling, some dropping to the valley of sorrow, chaos, and destruction; some rising to a pinnacle of success.
Good Fortune
Most of the time, however, this card suggests that such changes will bring with them good fortune. The client whom you’re reading for is going to get that bonus, that new position, that promotion, that marriage proposal, that break they’ve been waiting for. It may have taken two decades for it to come, but it’s about to occur in their life.
It’s payback for all the good things they’ve done in life – be it their destiny or just around of good luck. Whatever good fortune is out there waiting for them – large or small – they’re just about to discover theirs.

Here’s a site where you’ll find my writings.
The Bravehearts of Belgrave High is now published. I have completed the first in a series of novels that I wrote for teens. It is the courageous story of a young girl growing up in a home filled with domestic violence. She also has to endure a school and neighbourhood full of bullies. We read how she maneuvres her way through such a difficult situation. Plus, how she grows because of it, among other themes in the novel.
The desired outcome for young readers is that they will be inspired to treasure their unique differences. If they don’t fit in with the system or with those around them, then they should realise that it’s quite okay not to fit in.
My first novel was written to help raise funds for the private foundation that I established, which might later become a charity. Click here if you’d like to be taken to the site where you can purchase this novel. If you cannot see the site, use a browser other than Chrome.
