What is True Loyalty?
The concept of loyalty is a positive one in most people’s minds. It conjures visions of devotion, commitment, love, respect, and honour. In a healthy relationship that involves two emotionally balanced people, loyalty is appropriate and can cement a mutually satisfying, fulfilling union.
However, there are instances where “loyalty” can be seriously misplaced. If a partner is being abused emotionally or otherwise by the other person in the relationship, the devotion and attachment shown by the victim is unhealthy. So then, What is True Loyalty?

I’d just like to say that when I do readings for my clients, many women are involved with abusive men. They are holding onto the hope that they can fix a relationship that is broken with their abuser. It pains me to see the lack of belief in self that accompanies situations like this. It truly is sad that some of my clients don’t see enough worth in themselves to leave men such as this.

The Bravehearts of Belgrave High is now published. I have completed the first in a series of novels that I wrote for teens. It is the courageous story of a young girl growing up in a home filled with domestic violence. She also has to endure a school and neighbourhood full of bullies. We read how she maneuvres her way through such a difficult situation. Plus, how she grows because of it, among other themes in the novel.
The desired outcome for young readers is that they will be inspired to treasure their unique differences. If they don’t fit in with the system or with those around them, then they should realise that it’s quite okay not to fit in.
